Brought to you by the writing bunch at Hoching, Content is an editorial magazine which discusses teen topics as well as general ones in today's society. It is very opinionated and its contents do not necessarily reflect the view of our Brotherhood as a whole. Being An All American | by Mike Petruzzi
|
There are many things in this world people take pride in. For whatever reason, these things mean something special. To me, family, health, and
national pride mean the most. I am an all-American . I am proud of being an ideal teenage male. I am respectful, athletic, intelligent, responsible, and
have an excellent sense of humor. Those who know me can attest to all these qualities. Being an
all-American is not an easy task, as you will see.
In scholastic and collegiate sports, awards are given for being all-Americans. All-Americans are people who are the best of the best in their
respective sport. Whether it be soccer, football, or swimming, they excel in their field. However, they weren't born the best. They spent many days practicing and training to be where they are now. I am currently in
a rigorous training process. I play three sports: baseball, wrestling, and football. Everyday I spend time working at becoming better in the sport that is currently in season.
This is not easy, especially since there are other things that I must attend to, such as
family, school, and religion. However, I always push myself to work harder because I know that if I let up, someone else will keep on working and become better than me. I cannot accept that. In conclusion, my life is
a lot harder than what most people think it is. I am not a "dumb jock" who can't tell his ear from his elbow. In fact, I am an honors student. I know
it's hard to believe, but it's true. Also, people see sports as a "game". It is not a
game; it is a way of life. My entire life revolves around sports. It is a passion of mine that nobody can ever take away. I hope that all of my dedication will pay off in the future . Soon all of you will be reading my name in the paper as an
all-American in one sport or another. Remember my name because I will make it to the big-time.
