Sports/Health Get Big and Strong! by Mike Petruzzi Okay, obviously if you are reading this article you desire a bigger, strong, better looking body. Of course you do; everybody does. There are many paths you can take to achieve this goal. You will certainly have to work out frequently and eat more to put on weight, which will turn into muscle after lifting weights. The third step you must do is take some form of bodybuilding supplements. Which one, you ask? I am here to answer that question and examine several supplements currently available on the market. The most important substance to achieving a bigger body is protein. Protein comes in foods such as meats, fish, and peanut butter. The formula for finding out a sufficient amount of daily protein intake is to divide your total body weight by 2.2 . It is more than likely that most people will have a tough time eating enough food to achieve this amount. So, I recommend Whey protein shakes (available at local nutrition store such as GNC). Mix the powder with about 12 ounces of water and put it in a blender for around 2 minutes. Now drink this concoction that you have come up with. A bit of caution to those who had never had this kind of shake before: you may not care for the taste or texture at all, but your stomach may not be able to handle the shake so readily. Try to find a flavor that you are comfortable with and enjoy it. And if there is no flavor you like, then just pick any one, hold your nose, and gulp it down. Besides, this isn't meant to be some kind of delicacy! There are many types of bodybuilding shakes available. Look at the ingredients on the box. Key things to look for are a high protein concentration (50 grams per serving is ideal), amino acids (which stimulate protein synthesis in your body, its natural way of manufacturing proteins), glutamine peptides (this chemical will add mass and bulk to your muscles while strengthening them, too) and a high calorie content. More calories equal more weight. In my opinion, the best drink out there is EAS' Myoplex. It has all of the ingredients afore mentioned and comes in several tasty flavors. EAS prides itself on producing great tasting products more than anybody else. Met-Rx also has a drink similar to Myoplex. It is not as good though. Designer Whey Protein is a good bet if all you want is protein; it doesn't contain any other nutrients at all. Weight Gainers are good for the vast amount of calories, but generally they will cause stomach cramps in those with weaker stomachs. In closing, I hope that I have provided you with some useful information. Good luck on getting built. I have one more piece of advice to offer you, you must always remain persistent in your work out and consistently take your supplements. Otherwise, your efforts will be futile.
