| . | The Faithful: Servant of Jesus Christ by Warren Chia On November 15, 1998, I took "the plunge." On that cool autumn day, in a sanctuary filled with about 60 or 70 people, I was submerged into water in a Jacuzzi in the front of a congregation. That day was my birthday. It was not the celebration of the day I entered the world from my mother's womb, but on the contrary, it was a rebirth. On that day, I was reborn into the family of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I had earlier that day given my testimony in front of a chapel of 150 people after a captivating sermon. In this testimony, I told of how my God had saved me from eternal death and sin, by sending His one and only son to earth, to die for me on the cross. I stated boldly and firmly my faith in He who died for my sins, and told of my desire to spread God's word. I look back on that day, and I can't help but to be thankful. I can't help but thank my Lord for His unconditional love for me, for His infinite mercy, and His amazing grace that had saved me from of sin. It's a simple story. It's a story of how God loved the world so much, he sent his one and only son to come to earth and die for us. It tells about a world lost in sin and Jesus being crucified to save us from hell. It's the secret to heaven. All we have to do is believe in Jesus, and He will save us from hell. I try to live my life as faithful as I can. I have no doubts of the existence of God and Jesus. But it is hard to express my beliefs in an extremely godless world. I try to live a God-pleasing life, but the Devil is always there to tempt me into sin. The great thing about all this, though, is that even though the Devil may have a grasp on me and cause me to sin, Jesus will always be there for me to go to. He will always forgive my sins, and is always there for me to talk to. He is undoubtedly my best friend. I mean, who else would die for you in your time of greatest need? Only Jesus. Weekly fellowship at church and at Christian Club in school is like stops at the gas station. It fills me up spiritually, so that as I drive along the road of life day by day, I would not run out of gas. If you guys can't swallow all of that, I'll put it very simply. My life as a faithful Christian, as a faithful servant of Jesus, is not only a religion, it's a lifestyle. It teaches me to love others, and to live a moral life. But best of all, it's an insurance policy. It's a reservation for a spot in the most elegant banquet hall in the universe, the biggest party ever to be held. It's a reservation in heaven. It's the assurance of a perfect eternity. |
