August is here and the temperatures are cooling down, but the two baseball
teams in NY will never cool down. Both lead their division and have
more-than-great winning records. The Yanks have a small rivalry with the
Mets, playing two interleague series. In the first series at Yankee
Stadium, the Yanks won 2 and lost 1. At the second series at Mets Stadium,
the Mets also won 2 and lost 1. This shows how balanced out the team is and
how interesting a "subway" World Series would be. There are no home field
advantages since there will be an equal share of Mets/Yankees fans. There
is also a rivalry between the fans, and there will be many fights and
conflicts. Nevertheless, this would be a very interesting series and there
is no doubt it would be finished in 7 games.
However, this is not the only subway series in New York. When the Dodgers
and Giants were in New York, they played each other in the World Series.
Even though these are two completely different teams, it will bring back
memories to the older fans who were kids when watching the Dodgers and
Giants battle it out.
What do NY fans think about this possible series? I posted this question
on the BASEBALL message boards of AOL and recieved the following quotes:
"Mets suck" - Jeter 03
"I doubt that it will ever occur, but if it does, the Yankees are gonna
sweep them." - Jokim12
"It's ok if the Mets make it to the series since they haven't been in
post-season for a while... but can you give someone else in the AL a chance?
I'm tired of the Yankees." - HypeTrigz
"They're like both the same, so someone's going to win it in Game 7,
supposedly the Yanks." - QTJ122
"Yanks have better pitching staff" - DASNOMAN
"There are better rivalries... like Yanks + Boston or Mets + Cubs" -
Madman60
"It's going to suck. It's all in the state of New York. Usually if it's
two different states from different coasts, fans from all over the country
can attend. If it's a subway series (goes for any state) then it will be
boring for other states." - DJL iZzi3
